摘要

A mathematical model has been developed for physical testing of fabric stiffness by cantilever method. It is applied to the experimental results on cotton-polyester blend fabrics at both new and used conditions. The purpose is to express the stiffness in terms of the physical parameters like the strip dimesions and mass per unit length. A proportional bending length, simitar to the well known bending length is defined as a technical term. A physical term, namely effective Young's modulus is also defined to correlate the stiffness with physical parameters of the fabric. The fabric stiffiness is explained as a combined effect of elastic property and mass per unit area.
