Navies are funding trials of novel antifouling technology as part of a wider, ongoing effort to develop biocide-free antifouling. In the major world fleets there is a drive not just for biocide free products, but for products that will continue to be effective for much longer than a conventional antifouling on a commercial vessel -whether that vessel might have a 36-month or five-year dry-docking schedule.
