Looking for all of the operational, environmental, and economic benefits of an Azimuthing Stern Drive (ASD) tug, a tractor tug and a gas-powered vessel in one? Then a newly developed vessel called a Reverse Stern Drive (RSD) tug might just be the thing you're looking for. Three of the biggest names in the marine industry have partnered to develop the first ever RSD Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) tug to the market. The partners include Netherlands-headquartered global shipbuilder and designer Damen Shipyards, German engine manufacturer MTU Friedrichshafen, a subsidiary of Rolls-Royce Power Systems, and Denmark towing company Svitzer. The three companies unveiled the new concept in a joint press release.
