THE SUEZ CANAL authorities have ordered nine new 'Bahar' class pilot boats built by the Canal Naval Constructions shipyard in Port-Said, Egypt, to a CKD kit engineered and supplied by Mapso. The Mapso 'Pi Series' are a joint development with Alastair Cameron, of Camarc Ltd, who designed the Watercraft class of the Suez Canal some 30 years back. These outgoing venerable Watercrafts are being replaced by the Bahars, with five in operation already and a further four on order.
