摘要

The maritime industry is an important sector of the world's economy. More importantly, it provides essential inputs to other sectors such as manufacturing, energy and international trade. Therefore, the development of the maritime sector is of great importance to economic growth. Since economic growth remains low in many, particularly developing, countries the maritime industry should not only improve its efficiency and competitiveness but also attune business management and government policies. In addition, it is an opportunity for the maritime industry to add more value to the services it provides. This presents new challenges and opportunities to maritime professionals and policymakers worldwide.
