The Society is saddened to announce the death of James Sutherland on 18th May 2013, having celebrated his 90th birthday in November 2012. James studied at Trinity College, Cambridge, gaining a degree in Mechanical Sciences. Following service in the Royal Navy Electrical Branch from 1943, he joined Sir William Halcrow and Partners in 1946, then Alan Harris in 1957, becoming a partner in AJ & JD Harris in 1958. In 1964 the partnership changed to Harris and Sutherland.
