摘要

In this paper, plasma-sprayed wollastonite coating was soaked in simulated body fluid to investigate the morphology of apatite formed on the surface of the coating using scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and thin-film X-ray diffraction (TF-XRD) technologies, respectively. The apatite showed a subtle net-like structure consisting of elongated crystallite, which looks like a silkworm. Periodic annuluses can be observed on the surface of the elongated crystallite. The results obtained from the XRD analyzing and TEM observations reveal that the newly formed apatite layer consists of superfine crystalline and/or defective structure needle-like microcrystals.
