Fractal size distribution of debris of Al-based nanocrystalline alloy fractured in a wide strain-rate range

摘要

In a wide strain rate range from 10~(-5) s~(-1) to 10~3 s~(-1), the quasi-static and dynamic deformation behaviors of an Al-based nanocrystalline alloy are investigated. After fracture, the debris of the alloy is collected to be statistically analyzed, which is expected to reflect the profile of the fracture behavior of the alloy. The size distribution of the debris from fractured alloy follows the theory of fractal. The comparative investigation of the fractal dimensions between the quasi-static and the dynamic deformation is carried out to explore the influences of the quasi-static and the dynamic deformations on the fracture behavior. The results show that the fractal dimension value increases with increasing strain rate.
