An axisymmetric laser beam heats a thin dye layer which is sandwiched between two plastic sheets. Dye diffuses into one of the sheets (the receiver sheet) producing a small dot of dye. An image is produced by a large number of dye dots. The axisymmetric unsteady temperature field Produced by the laser is determined and then the dye field is found by solving a diffusion equation Using a temperature sensitive diffusion coefficient.
