Let F be a field of characteristic different from 2. H. Kashima has shown that if F is 3-linked and if all anisotropic torsion forms in I~2F of dimension ≥ 8 are already in I~3F then the u-invariant of F is ≤ 8 or = 16. We show that if F satisfies only the condition on torsion I~2F-forms as above then this already implies that u(F) ≤ 8, and we will give some examples.
