The wedding of an economical toothed conveyor roller to an internal roller drive has produced the PosiGrip Accumulation Conveyor from TKF Inc. According to Jim Walsh, vice president of sales for the Cincinnati firm, the conveyor combines TKF's process for crimping drive teeth directly into a conveyor roller with a de-powered roller and controls from Sparks Automated Solutions of Grand Rapids, Mich, Toothed belts enable the conveyor to handle higher loads than one whose rollers are driven by O-rings, Walsh explained. Crimping teeth directly into the roller avoids the expense of having to mount timing-belt gear pairs on each roller.
