This new book seems well adapted to an audience that seems to have been neglected: Practitioners in the area of acoustics who are in search of a text stressing the basic fundamental ideas and physics which lie behind the design and testing of acoustical systems. The highly theoretical exposition should not be misleading-these expose the necessary physical aspects without which no real understanding of the engineering aspects is involved and without which many acoustical problems cannot be really understood. Luckily the author discusses the relevance of the results to the practical world whenever appropriate.
