摘要

Ambient Assisted Living provides independency for the elderly people with the support of advanced information and communication technologies. It is currently one of the most prominent research and development areas, where accessibility, usability and learning play a major role and where multimodal interfaces are an important concern for applied engineering. The general goal of ambient assisted living is the application of ambient intelligence and pervasive technology in order to enable people with specific demands e.g. handicapped, elderly or patients suffering from chronic diseases to live in congenial environments longer. Ambient home care systems are based on wireless and sensor networks which are specially designed for this purpose. This work provides an overview of the state of the art on ambient assisted living technologies and focuses on implementation issues of such systems.
