摘要

Multilevel inverters are used as the most significant alternative in the area of high-power medium-voltage schemes. The present paper is focused on the topologies of diode-clamped inverters with space-vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) as a control strategy. Four algorithms based on this technique are developed in order to conduct a comparative study on two, three, five and seven level inverters. The design method used to develop these control algorithms is based on symmetrical sequence because of the symmetry of the switching wave. In order to validate the developed control algorithms computer tests using Matlab Simulink were performed on four inverter topologies feeding a squirrel cage induction motor. The obtained results have showed that the best motor dynamic response with less harmonic distortion and torque fluctuations is obtained when seven-level inverter is employed. In addition, this topology can operate with a lower switching frequency and generates output voltages and currents with very low distortions.
