LTE-Advanced is the candidate from (3GPP) to meet (IMT)-Advanced requirements. The objective of this paper is to evaluate the performance of Adaptive MIMO, Modulation, and Coding Switching (AMMCS) in Uplink LTE-A Multi-hop Network in terms of Average throughput and Mean File Transfer Time (MFTT) with respect to other antenna configuration. The impact of Relay Station (RS) positioning on the Uplink performance was also investigated in the paper. The study takes into consideration the effect of different arrival rates from random positions of UEs, and scheduling algorithms. AMMCS works on the principle of switching among SISO, S1M0, and MIMO in accordance to proposed CQI thresholds. Simulation results reveal that significant improvement in average throughput and MFTT may be achieved by applying AMMCS technique. Moreover, Throughput in standard MIMO transmission technique is also improved.
