摘要

Multi-hop cellular network with relay components is a major concern in research studies around the world,Relay Stationcan aid the cell to achieve coverage extension, and capacity enhancement. LTE-Advanced is a candidate from (3GPP) to meet (IMT)-Advanced requirements.Thc Relay station (RS) positioning is acrucial factor that severely influences the LTE-A performance. In this paper the impact of RS placement on the LTE-Advanced Uplink performanceis studied using Adaptive modulation and coding (AMC), taking into consideration the effect of different arrival rates from random positions of UEs in the cell. Simulation results show the RS coverage area, total uplink throughput, and mean file transfer times (MFTT) fordifferent RS positions, different propagation models, and transmitted power.The simulation results showed that the best location of RS under Cost231hata model is at 75% of the cell radius for maximum capacity, and minimum MFTT.However for higher propagation losses the best RS position changes towards the eNB to achieve better network performance.
