In the basis weight sensor maX by ZAP Systemkomponenten GmbH + Co. KG, Strau-bing/Germany, emitter and receiver part of the sensor are assembled in one single housing. There is no measurement gap, and the sensor accesses the material from one side only. Instead of radiation from a radioactive beta source, an X-ray tube is employed, that you can switch off completely. Thanks to the patented adaption unit for scattered radiation, the measurement shows no passline effect.
