Although originally developed specifically for PET, the MRS extruder from Gneuss Kunst-stofftechnik GmbH, Bad Oeynhausen/Ger-many, now also runs polyolefin and poly-amide applications, and testing with other materials promises many more applications in the future. Along with PET postconsumer bottle flakes, production waste with various viscosities can also be processed into e.g. high-quality spunbonded nonwovens. Bi-component staple fiber can for example be manufactured using the same input material and different vacuum levels on 2 MRS extruders to produce melts with differing viscosities.
