Cotton mills are confronted with daily changing conditions in order to produce a competitive product. According to an ITMF report, a worldwide increase of contamination in cotton can be observed, despite various counter measures. Foreign matter in the spinning process is the most common source of flaws in the yarn and leads to substantial reclaims from knitters and weavers. The quality requirements for yarn are steadily increasing and the trend is towards a contamination free product. Jossi Systems AG, Wangi/Switzerland, has produced sophisticated, camera-based systems since 1995 for the detection and removal of such rather disturbing particles. The Vision Shield Inspect represents the 5th generation of a highly successful concept.
