Poland has one of the largest textile industries in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as a large internal market for textiles and clothing. In 2011 sales in textile industry increased by 15% PLN 8.1 billion (€1.91 billion). Clothing manufacturers' sold production value was worth PLN 6.9 billion (€ 1.64 billion), a year-on-year increase of PLN 580 million (€137 million). In Poland 42,000 people (-4.5 %) were employed in the textile sector and 90,000 people (-3.3%) in the apparel sector in December 2011.
