Since the early 1990's, Freudenberg Politex SpA, Novedrate/ltaly, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, has pioneered the in-house production of polyester fiber from post-consumer PET bottles. The company's core business is the production of polyester nonwovens made using both staple and spunbond technology and it is a world leader in the roofing sector, where nonwovens are sold as reinforcement for bituminous waterproofing membranes. The group also makes voluminous nonwovens which are used as padding in the furniture and clothing industries.
