The international fiber and textured yarn producer Unifi, Inc., Greensboro, NC/USA, was founded by George Allen Mebane IV in 1971. Unifi held an event on April 26, 2011 that marked the dedication of its Yadkinville, NC, facility to G. Allen Mebane. He led the company for nearly 30 years until he retired in 2000. He passed away in 2008 at the age of 79.
