摘要

World fiber use in textile products rose 8 % in 2010 to 85 million tons, a new high. By fiber, use was: 64% man-made fibers, 27% cotton, 7% other vegetable fibers (jute, coir, flax, sisal, ramie, etc.), 1 % wool and 0.5% silk. All fibers increased, led by 12% growth for man-made fibers. Acetate cigarette tow and glass fiber are not included. Fiber use grew in all regions except India, which was unchanged. China accounted for 47 % of world fiber use in 2010; India 11 %; other Asian countries and Oceania 14%. NAFTA 7 %; other Americas 5 %; Europe 9 %; Turkey, the Mideast and Africa 9%.
