On December 31, 2008, the European Commission published the implementation of Globally Harmonized System (GHS) in the European Union, referred to widely as CLP (Classification, Labeling and Packaging). It is time now for companies, supplying within the European Community, to progress their implementation in order to meet the deadlines of December 1, 2010, for substance reclassifica-tion and June 1, 2015, for mixture reclassifi-cation. Ciba, Basel/Switzerland, now part of BASF SE, Ludwigshafen/Germany, organized a workshop in Amsterdam/Netherlands, on May 17-18, 2010, including: CLP Regulation compared to UN Purple Book for GHS, CLP and its relationship to the REACh regulation, a workshop on classification & labeling rules, a look at preparation of safety data sheets, product labeling, corporate health & safety practises, etc.
