The French supplier of denim apparel, Marithe + Francois, Gribaud, has developed a process for creating a used look on denim clothing without a stone wash treatment. For the usual stone wash process, up to 150 I of water/garment is needed. In a so-called vat-washing, the jeans are treated with a newly developed laser technology. Using this process, waster consumption is reduced to 5 I water/garment. This new laser technology was presented at the Bread & Butter (July 7-9, 2010) in Berlin/Germany.
