The data of the State of Trade Report of the International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF), Zurich/Switzerland, for the second quarter of 2009 are indicating that the global textile industry is recovering from the worst global recession since the Great Depression in the 1930's. According to the ITMF data, global yarn and fabric production were continuously falling since the second quarter of 2008. While one was hoping for the slowdown to be stopped in the second quarter of 2009, such a strong rebound comes as a surprise.
