摘要

In contrast to approaches by which soil organism populations are predicted from soil properties based on average organism-soil relationships, spatial approaches applying state-space analysis allow the interpolation of soil organisms at unsampled positions based on locally assessed variability patterns of populations and soil properties. With adequately designed transect studies, a prediction of soil organism populations in large unsampled regions seems to be feasible. For practical purposes, the indirect assessment of soil properties characterizing soil habitats by means of geophysical measurements will be of special importance in large-scale studies. A further challenge concerns the implementation of this kind of information about soil organism-soil relationships into GIS.
