摘要

A metal stamper presented me with a problem of rapid punch wear on a particular application. The problem is illustrated in Fig. 1. What occurs in a situation like this is that the material being trimmed diminishes as it gets closer to the outside edge of the stock and consequently, the process of blanking tapers off into shaving and eventually rubbing whatever sliver of material it comes into contact with. See the illustration in Fig. 2 prior to trimming material. Fig. 3 illustrates what occurs during the trimming operation in each segment of the cut.
