Manufacturing quality light poles involves moving bulky, steel poles that are 45-ft. long and weigh more than 700 lbs. around a factory floor. The steel pole shafts must be cut, welded and painted to meet customer specifications, but many steps in the material handling process can delay delivery, restrict the flexibility needed to meet production changes and threaten worker safety.
