In previous columns I have addressed the need for automatic 100 percent dimensioning inside metalforming dies and tooling. Several companies worldwide are using this technique to assure themselves that critical dimensions are being adhered to in real time, while the press is running. They accomplish this with stations within the tooling that are dedicated to part dimensioning and nothing else.
