Spartanburg Steel Products Inc., unveiled its state-of-the-art robotic tandem press line at its Spartanburg, SC, plant during a special ceremony in April. The new "2100 press line" is described as the first of its kind in the United States. Installation of the six-press line, which was scheduled to go into full production during June 1995, is part of Spartanburg Steel's long-range strategic effort to attract more auto- motive business. Fred Schoen, president of Spartanburg Steel, remarks, "The combination of six-axis robotics and hydraulic presses is the latest technology in the industry.
