Portuguese and Brazilians share the same language and the same foreign word: design. The accent may change but this word, spoken untranslated on both sides of the Atlantic, has many connotations and multiple meanings. In 2015, MUDE in Lisbon held the exhibition How to Pronounce Design in Portuguese, a survey of furniture design with over 200 interpretations of this word as defined by Portuguese designers for over a century.
