摘要

Relational database management systems have been the de facto standard for organizing, querying, and manipulating business data in the last few decades. Although many new data models were proposed in the time, very few of them got the same spotlight as the relational model did. Recently, some models are getting special attention because they are the theoretical foundations of a group of successful databases, classified as NoSQL (Not only SQL) databases. These databases do not store their data as flat tables, as did the relational model, but have different underlying structures to store varying types of data that are prevalent today.
