Lt Gen James H Pillsbury assumed his duties as the US Army Materiel Command's deputy commanding general on 8 December 2008 and also serves as the Executive Director for Conventional Ammunition. Subsequent to taking those positions, Pillsbury was tasked by the AMC commander, Gen Ann Dunwoody, to take the command's lead in the Responsible Reset Task Force (R2TF).
