While no shortage of literature exists on the subject of the British Empire, Ghosts of Empire provides a fresh perspective that reminds us of our shared history and parallel paths. Its author, Kwasi Kwarteng, examines Britain's colonial legacy through a contemporary lens, drawing on the Crown's experience to frame a cautionary tale for America in the 21 st century. At a time when many leading thinkers are pressing the United States to take a leading role in policing global unrest, Kwarteng cites the decline of the British Empire to urge restraint.
