SSM has been meeting the Turkish Armed Forces' (TAF) requirements for wheeled armoured vehicles from local sources since the late 1980s. One of the strongest sectors of the Turkish defence and aerospace industry, the land platforms sector is now able to offer indigenous solutions for almost all the requirements of the Turkish Land Forces (TLF), Gendarmerie General Command (GGC), and Security General Directorate (SGDATurkish National Police). A key player in wheeled and tracked armoured vehicles, companies in the sector seek to double their current export figures and to this end they have identified the Middle East, Far East, Africa and Turkic Republics as key potential markets for Turkish-produced armoured vehicles.
