Addressing delegates at SORG 2017, Director of USSOCOM J6 (Communications) John Wllcox and USSOCOM Science and Technology Director, Lisa Sanders, described how the current operating environment comprised a more contested arena, making it afl the more important for the command to identify and deliver a next-generation of capabilities. Referring to "assured communications"as a Special Operations "Hard Problem," Sanders described emerging requirements for connectivity across contested environments as well as austere and remote operating locations.
