Examining what has happened with the handling of multiple sources of intelligence since the end of the Cold War, we find nothing much has changed substantively - except for the questions of volume of data and required speed of processing. Iraq, Afghanistan, naval operations off the Horn of Africa, airborne operations over Libya and Syria - it seems that every instance of conflict reveals greater and greater need for automated data processing at ever faster speeds, integration of data in different formats from a bewildering variety of sensors and careful analysis of received data in order to derive actionable intelligence.
