Besides older minesweepers, e.g. of the SONYA-class (Projekt 12650/12655), the only new-generation mine countermeasures vessels operated by the Russian Navy have been the two Project 12660 GORYA-class minesweepers/minehunters featuring the COBRA-GYURZA anti-mine system consisting a homing anti-mine torpedo (COBRA) and a mooring wire cutting self-propelled torpedo (GYURZA) designed by the Gidropribor Research Institute, the STIU-2 KETMEN self-propelled minehunter/destroyer containing two 130kg explosive charges (with a 100m maximum operating depth) and PALTUS towed sea-bed mine seeker/destroyer from Gidropribor, the KTK-1 (or GKT-2) deep-sea contact, AT-3 acoustic and TEM-3M electromagnetic minesweeps, and the MG-99 KABARGA-A mine-detecting sonar.
