"Withdrawing from Afghanistan, modernisation of Armed Forces and improving defence capabilities are the priorities for 2014," Polish Minister of National Defence Tomasz Siemoniak said at press conference held in Chancellery of the Prime Minister on 15 January. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy Janusz Piechocinski, and Secretary of State in the MoND Czeslaw Mroczek participated in the conference. Referring to mission in Afghanistan, the Minister confirmed that it will be concluded in 2014 and the process of dislocating forces from base Ghazni to base Bagram will finish in May 2014, leaving 500 Polish soldiers plus 150 soldiers in reserve, within the XV rotation. Minister Siemoniak also said Poland is ready to support France's forces in Central African Republic. From 1 February 2014, 50 soldiers and one transport aircraft with necessary equipment will be assigned to this task.
