RUAG Aviation is one of five divisions of the international RUAG technology group. As such, it is the OEM of the Dornier 228 and provides complete integrated life cycle support for this proven 3rd generation aircraft. Available as a Multi Role (MR) platform or Advanced Commuter (AC) aircraft, the Dornier 228 is specifically configured to either optimally fulfil on and offshore special missions, as well as excel in passenger and cargo transportation. According to the company, this extremely efficient and effective turboprop is the leading maritime policing aircraft in its class. In its various MR configurations, the Dornier 228Os current operators include the Bangladesh Navy, Dutch Coast Guard, German Navy, Finnish Border Guard, Italian Army Aviation, and Royal Thai Navy. As an Advanced Commuter (AC) Japan's New Central Airlines and the Venezuelan government are the most recent new customers bolstering the large worldwide Dornier 228 commuter operator community.
