Mt: Mr. Horowitz, you took over ESA in 2007. What has been your strategic development objective for the organisation? Where is the company going from here? R. Horowitz: Over the last five years we have enjoyed a lot of the additional/supplemental budgets as others have in the defence industry. We have been trying to get closer to our customers to achieve a better understanding of what their needs are so we can more effectively serve them. In doing this we have extended our airborne systems business and have built-up a substantial logistics support business. In the next few years our challenge is to reposition and realign our portfolio on what we think future needs will be. In the past decade there has been much emphasis on ground forces and the equipment they need together with the development of airspace needs. We have a very strong airborne business but are looking to build additional capabilities in fields that include persistent ISR and some areas of electronic warfare. In an era of less resources we need to identify where we should focus. We cannot afford to do everything we have done before and that is one of the new challenges. What do we emphasise and de-emphasise in line with the budget environment.
