During the last few conflicts (Afghanistan, Iraq, and Lybia) lessons were identified, regarding rotary wing platform operation and threats. The main threat was both RF and IR, due to MANPADS and RF guided missiles. These threats are no news to the operational scenario, nevertheless because of them losses were experienced on the field. The main task of EW equipment is to neutralise these threats.
