Aero India had over 600 companies participating with over half (352) being from overseas. Over 50 aircraft were on the tarmac with the TEJAS and Dassault RAFALE taking prominent positions reflecting India's current priorities along with the DHRUV ALH. Aero India 2013 was a shade paler than its previous editions, those who have been watching the event over the past few years felt. That many of the plans too did not fall in place was what was worrying for the observers. The sizeable number of programmes designed to acquire equally sizeable number of aircraft, weapons systems and C4ISR solutions across a range of platform types and roles mean that Aero India will always command the attention of the world's defence and aerospace industry. Interest and activity is further piqued by the particular dynamics of Indian procurement, which has meant that decisions apparently made can be in a state of flux.
