While most European countries reduce military spending, ambitious Poland plans to boost the modernisation rate of its Armed Forces in the coming years ... thereby, becoming an attractive partner for many international defence companies. In the last decade, particularly since the active participation in the Iraqi invasion (2003), the Polish MoND has been focused on building expeditionary capabilities. This was mainly to please NATO allies, especially the US, which are regarded as the main guarantee of Polish security and independence. In 2013, Poland declared a shift towards an increased focus on purely defensive capabilities (although the official rhetoric still emphasises that the risk of a conventional war is low).
