MT: What is it about Aerojet's key capabilities currently being provided by the company that make this level of achievement sustainable for today's military customer? M. Bright: Simply put - performance and affordability. Aerojet Rocketdyne is the leading provider of propulsion systems for the Missile Defense Agency for a reason. We provide Divert and Attitude Control Systems (DACS) and boosters for GMD, Patriot, THAAD and SM3. Our technical solutions are second to none. We pioneered precision liquid and solid DACS and are leading the way to the next generation systems. Our Throttleable DACS (TDACS) is state of the art. It allows for precision control unlike any other solid DACS system ever produced. When we won the SM3-1B TDACS job there were two basic criteria. It had to be more capable than the current system and it had to be affordable. We met both of those criteria. The TDACS allows for near liquid like DACS control and can, unlike a liquid DACS, be both ship based or ground based. Our SM3-1B TDACS has proven itself successfully in the first four flight tests and numerous ground tests and is now moving into production. Our price is coming down as we focus on affordability. We have extensive affordability programmes in place at Aerojet Rocketdyne.
