As British troops and thousands of tonnes of military equipment continue to be withdrawn from service in Afghanistan, the major task of repair and maintenance is already well underway. Millions of pounds worth of military hardware including weapons, vehicles and support equipment now needs to be stripped down, cleaned and made ready for redeployment after having performed tirelessly in the most demanding of environments. Much of this equipment will return to a major site in Shropshire, and other establishments across the UK, where a range of modern and bespoke cleaning equipment is used to thoroughly wash and degrease each mechanical part of every working component.
