Adding capability to the soldier whilst also reducing the weight and bulk of his load is the holy grail of dismounted close combat procurement. Rolatube is playing an important role towards meeting these often conflicting requirements. Rolatube operates at the cutting edge of composite technology, and the company's equipment has now been fielded on operations by the US military as well as by the British, Australian and others. The technology delivers "roll out" composite structures of different lengths and diameters that can be re-rolled endlessly. The characteristic is the combination of flexibility and impressive rigidity when un-rolled. This creates products that are light, robust and highly versatile. In the few months since AUSA 2011, Rolatube has won a contract with the US Army's Rapid Equipping Force for the supply of a substantial number of squad multi use mobility kits. and had some of their roll up mast systems successfully evaluated within the JTRS Ground Mobile Radio (GMR) assessment as part of the US Army's Network Integration Evaluation (NIE) programme. A number of other contracts are under negotiation.
