NATO agreed on 8 February to extend its air policing mission over its Baltic member states Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia until 2018. At the same time, the 28-nation alliance will seek a "sustainable long-term solution" to maintain planes over the three nations, which do not have their own fighter jets. "This mission continues to demonstrate the Alliance's commitment to collective defence and solidarity for all its members," NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said in a statement.
