MT: Tell us something about your initial impressions of POF on taking over as Chairman, to what extent the reality match your expectations, and what was your initial assessment of strengths upon and areas requiring attention? Lt.Gen. Mahmood: Being a soldier and having worked in defence procurement of the Pakistan Army, I had a lairly good idea about the potential and strengths of POF. However, after taking over as the Chairman of premier defence production organisation of Pakistan, I am getting increasingly aware of the challenges POF faces. Notwithstanding the challenges, POF has lot of strengths like extremely competent and qualified human resource, an all encompassing industrial base and above all a market that holds potential for growth. In addition, a comprehensive restructuring plan has already been worked out, which is in its initial stages of implementation.
